It was a wonderful day for a parade! Every year in the first week of June Lynden has the Farmer's Day parade. But this year was a special year. It was the 125th anniversary of Lynden. So to make it extra special this year they decided to have a record breaking strawberry shortcake going down the middle of Front Street. They built it from 7th street and finishing at 3rd street which is over 1,250 feet long!
And just to add a cherry on top of that (or should I say strawberry?) Lynden won 1st place the day before for 'America's Main Street' competition winning $25,000!
Everyone is getting ready for the parade...

We were surprised by some friends we didn't expect to see there...

Of course you need large farming equipment at a Farmer's Day Parade!
I still find it funny that the mayor was in the wagon pulled by two mules...
Aren't they beautiful?!
If you zoom in the car has a sign which says, "Les Molenaar 125th Anniversary Beard Contest Winner!"

We got to see lots of old tractors as well...
Then the set up for the longest Strawberry Shortcake begins!

| Next came the strawberries and the ice cream... The only problem was the heat. The ice cream and whipping cream melted before we all got to enjoy it. I believe it was in the high 80's. |
Then we finally got to eat it! Melted ice cream, whipping cream, strawberries and all!

Diets went out the window that day. I believe this was my first helping...

| A moment and slice of history! I was well and truly sunburned but had a wonderful time! We were able to meet some old friends as well which was a great ending to the day's festivities. |
